Produced circa 1950, 47mmx32mm, the movement was made by Movado and retailed by Cartier. 18K gold with enamel case, rectangular dial with Arabic numerals.

This typical Movado Ermeto model was recognized by its rectangular shutter-like case. Ermeto means ‘sealed’ in Greek, as this model simultaneously seals and winds the watch, a special winding system by moving two halves of case apart and back together.

Cartier is a French luxury goods conglomerate which designs, manufactures, distributes, and sells Jewellery and watches. Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris in 1847, the company remained under family control until 1964.
Movado was founded in 1881 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Léopold Achille Isidore Ditesheim. In 1905, the company changed its name to Movado. The name “Movado” means ‘Always in Motion’ in Esperanto.
